It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
